On Thursday 13 February 2020, Flam3D organised a Flemish-Dutch edition of the info evening “3D printing in Business” in Oss. The evening on how to get started with this new technology was organised at Rösler / AM Solutions and tried to stimulate the meaningful use of 3D printing within SMEs. Moreover, the evening was a good example of strengthening cross-border cooperation between the Netherlands and Flanders.

“3D printing, is that a thing now?” remains a frequently asked question. It shows that it is still necessary to spread independent, neutral knowledge about 3D printing and to inform people about the possibilities, but also limitations, of this innovative technology. That is exactly what Flam3D is aiming for with its information evenings, as on Thursday 13 February.

3D printing offers advantages in many different sectors. For example, the arrival of Additive Manufacturing enables suppliers to produce parts on demand, close to where the parts are needed. This is just one of the examples where 3D printing can support the maintenance sector. However, it is not yet entirely clear to everyone where this innovative technology can offer a competitive advantage. The Flam3D information evenings are a first step to discover the technology and see what it can do for the user.

The AM-info evening in Oss focused on all companies and organisations interested in 3D printing and was a success. Through a general introduction on the technology and inspiring business cases, participants gathered knowledge and insights on how to get started with 3D printing. This general presentation was complemented by a series of real cases presented by some established players in the market such as Trumpf, 3D Maastricht, Hulotech and 3D Body Cloud. The info evening on 13 February is not an isolated case and many more info evenings will follow, both in Flanders and in the Netherlands. The first one already on 24 March at ENGIE in Zwijndrecht (BE).
