Of all applications with compressed air, drying is the least efficient. Apart from the energy consumption and the cost of filtering oil and condensate the maintenance costs for a continuous operating compressor can increase considerably. Almeco accepts any challenge to replace compressed air in a production process with drying application by an energy efficient alternative.
Almeco recently designed a series of cable dryers for clients in the extrusion sector. After the strings of extruded plastic went through the cooling bath and before they are rolled up, drying of the cables is necessary. A lot of manufacturers therefor make use of compressed air. But there are alternatives: an optimized system guarantees an efficient blowing capacity at a minimal cost and with minimal impact on the environment.
The installation designed by Almeco avoids the use of compressed air, thus reducing noise considerably. Moreover, a complete system capture the escaping water properly, so it does not re-enter the production process. In addition, it is an economical solution: expensive compressed air is replaced and only limited maintenance of the installation is necessary. So there is return on investment in only a few months.
