On Thursday, May 7th, the awards ceremony of the Best Application Contest took place at the automation fair ”Indumation” in Kortrijk (BE). PCA, sister company of Almeco, won the first prize with one of its innovative applications.
PCA recently built a water treatment plant to purify surface water (river water) to process water at a flow rate of 150 m3/h. Thanks to the installation, the customer saves 1300 million liters of ground water every year.
To automate and control the installation, PCA used a Siemens PLC 1500, the successor of the S7 series. To support the launch of these new PLC’s, Siemens organized the Best Application Contest, in which projects that make use of the PLC are rewarded.
