Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has improved its range of solenoid valves for vehicle engines to meet Euro 6 environmental standards. The company’s Fluid Control Division has developed a series of valves that contribute to lowering emissions, in particular nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particle matter (PM), improve engine and fuel management and control alternative fuel systems (CNG / LNG).
Emission reduction (EURO 6 / Tier 4f)
Reducing the level of Particle Matter (PM) and NOx emissions is a constant challenge for the automotive and transportation industry. Parker solenoid valves used around the engine or in the exhaust system offer a reliable solution to reduce polluting emissions. Parker solenoid valves control an actuator ensuring the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), neutralizes particles by injecting diesel upstream of the particle filter hence raising its temperature up to 650°C, controlling the air pressure for AdBlue® dosing and controlling the flow of coolant liquid. This warms the AdBlue liquid which, when mixed with the exhaust gas, reduces NOx emissions
Engine Management
The engine energy balance is an important concern. Parker valves optimise the deceleration of the vehicle and ensure the fuel supply and drain the engine when switched off. A hydraulic solenoid valve controls the opening and closing cycles of the exhaust valves to slowdown the engine. A proportional solenoid valve controls an actuator close to the exhaust for better deceleration and saves the conventional braking components on the vehicle.
Alternative fuels management
The new Parker valves combine the latest technology to reduce CO2 emissions and meet international environmental standards. Hydraulic solenoid valves are able to shut-off the supply of CNG and LNG safely at either high or low pressures. Moreover, safety aspects are guaranteed thanks to the high quality design and compliance with standards such as ECE-R110. The thermostatic valve is perfect to bring the gas to the right temperature, the pressure regulator delivers the gas at the right pressure to the engine and the waste-gate valve diverts excessive turbo pressure to protect the engine and the turbocharger.
